“Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn't hurt the untroubled spirit either.”
― Elizabeth Zimmermann
After a time with a massive creative chaos in my head i managed to decide (the sweather in the left corner of photo) BUT first i am going to be a good-knitter-girl and finish the one that i am already working on...*smiling*....i will at least TRY....
“Letting go is the lesson. Letting go is always the lesson. Have you ever noticed how much of our agony is all tied up with craving and loss?”
― Susan Gordon Lydon, The Knitting Sutra: Craft as a Spiritual Practice

I understand the compulsion! I don't knit, but love to sew and cook, and read about both. So when a new sewing book, or cookbook, or novel arrives at the bookstore I am a kid in the candy store. I completely understand the chaotic mind. But aren't all of us artists slightly mad?
ReplyDeleteoh yes, jenny.
Deletei guess we all are slightly mad...ha-ha...:)
wishing you a lovely weekend,

Could smell the first touch of autumn this morning. It's time to prepare for colder days soon.
ReplyDeletebeautiful here today...bright sun together with the crispness of the autumn air...
DeleteNearly a year ago, a member of my knitting group (that used to meet weekly at our local library) opened a yarn shop here in town (which is now where we meet). After reading about the book in your closing quote from "The Knitting Sutra", I ordered the book as a one year anniversary gift for her. I think that it will be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI have knit since forever I think. It is absolutely the most calming activity for me. Even when I make a mistake - and I do -it's a mistake that I know I can fix. There is something so satisfying about that!
tracy
Deleteoh how nice,
would love to hear if she liked it when she have read it through. i have it on my wish list together with this one:

Such lovely colours and I completely know what you mean!! At the moment I have so many unfinished knittings that I promised to myself to finish them before I start something new...but I don´t know if I am really able to do so :) At the moment I am so fond of lilacs and blues and I already saw a perfect lilac yarn in one yarn shop. I think my feet will take me to that shop wery soon again.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have many wonderful trips to your favourite yarn store this autumn.
Love Anu

So funny Vibeke I feel the same!! ;) I think the solution is to avoid getting into yarn store..I'm impatient and sometimes buy wool that I do not know what I'm going to knit.
ReplyDeleteby the way, lovely wool!especially the biggest skein on the top right.
happy knit
: )i know anna but it is like my feet will not hear me, they just decide by themselves to head for the yarn store......ha-ha...
