Saturday

Finally a day without rain or snow but instead with the most beautiful SUNSHINE, ohhhh how i have missed it!!!!
Drinking rose white tea from my new bright yellow cup, such a cheerful color. Going to continue this weekend with doing lovely things like reading Mary Olivers poetry, enjoy my mother in laws delicious applecake that are waiting for ME in the fridge...*smiling*..., my mum is coming by to take me with on a little car trip either close by the sea or up in the mountains, going to stop by the flowershop to buy some fresh flowers and of course knitting....not a day without knitting...ha-ha...

I have just started reading Mary Oliver's Swan and i am completely blown away by her poems.
Want to share one of my favourites with you:

The Swan
Did you too see it, drifting, all night, on the black river?
Did you see it in the morning, rising into the silvery air -
An armful of white blossoms,
A perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned
into the bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies,
Biting the air with its black beak?
Did you hear it, fluting and whistling
A shrill dark music - like the rain pelting the trees - like a waterfall
Knifing down the black ledges?
And did you see it, finally, just under the clouds -
A white cross Streaming across the sky, its feet
Like black leaves, its wings Like the stretching light of the river?
And did you feel it, in your heart, how it pertained to everything?
And have you too finally figured out what beauty is for?
And have you changed your life?

  1. I have the same feelings now, no more snow or rain! It's getting warmer day after day. Children got their bikes after winter and I would like to clean our house before the sunshine shows all the dust... I want to be ready while the best season comes. Summer isn't so long here in Finland.
    Lovely poem!

  2. Lovely poem. We are anticipating some more snow here in Central New York - while it's been an incredibly mild winter, we rarely get snow this late. Enjoy your weekend - it sounds as though you have some lovely things planned!
